The Educative Mentor

Want to upskill in the area of mentoring?

This course will provide you with the expert knowledge and skills to support any practitioner to develop their classroom practice.

“Every teacher needs to improve, not because they are not good enough, but because they can be even better.”

Dylan Wiliam

The Educative Mentor Course

The DfE's Standard for teachers’ professional development states that ...

 Part 4 – Professional development programmes should be sustained over time

Professional development is most effective when activities form part of a sustained programme, typically for more than two terms. In particular, effective professional development:

  • is iterative, with activities creating a rhythm of ongoing support and follow-up activities;
  • may include complementary one-off activities as part of a wider coherent package; and,
  • includes opportunities for experimentation, reflection, feedback and evaluation.

On our Coaching and Mentoring Practices to Develop a Professional Learning Culture course, across the academic year, you will apply the latest knowledge of academic theory, research and the science of learning to develop your skills as a mentor.  Throughout the year you will engage in relevant reading and academic research, and then, through our synchronous online and face-to-face events, you will develop high level skills in mentoring and coaching techniques to support the development of practitioners within your school.  This course is designed to create a sustained programme of learning across an academic year.
